COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS FORUM
New this year will be the Community Solutions Forum, which will present a number
of speakers involved in our local community-building movement.
ANDRE PIVER has worked as a family doctor in mental health
multidisciplinary teams, on small farms and with environmental organizations.
He has also published papers and essays on environmental, psychiatric and community
matters. Andre has recently been part of organizing a large, well-supported
regional/local food self-reliance conference for November in Nelson and has
written and thought a lot about intentional community.
LAURA WATT and RACHEL HERBISON are accomplished
leaders in Non-Violent Communication. They have been participating in the Bay
Leadership program for Bay NVC for the past year and were key in organizing
Marshall Rosenberg's visit to Nelson. They are passionate about helping people
to relate to each other and solve conflicts more easily.
GARY DELFINER is an expert in alternative energy building and
living. His house in Oregon has become a show-home and he has recently moved
to Nelson to bring his skills and dream of community living to the Kootenays.
AIMEE WATSON is our Kaslo and Area Food Security Co-ordinator
with a wealth of knowledge and experience with food and farming. As a farmer
going back to farming, Aimee is dedicated to creating a people's food system.
She believes the quote that "whoever controls the food, controls the people".
